PAX Prime 2013: FFXIV’s Yoshida on rebuilding trust and expanding functionality


Aside from Square’s public presentation, which was open to both the media types and fans at this year’s PAX Prime, we’re also able to sit down with ffxiv data centres producer Naoki Yoshida for a more intimate interview session.

Much like the general public session, Yoshida started with a handful of prepared statements which focused on Square’s appreciation for its loyal fans and its ongoing acknowledgment of their missteps with both version 1.0 and version 2.0’s launching problems. Yoshida said that Square didn’t expect how large the need could be for A Realm Reborn, due partially to the former version’s issues and since a comprehensive reboot hasn’t been done in the MMO space earlier.
But he said that by this Wednesday, the game ought to be encouraging everyone who would like to play with it.
Then he detailed the game’s three columns, which include of fantastic images, a great story, and excellent gameplay, before clearing up a little bit of misconception regarding players being permitted to post gameplay into YouTube. Fundamentally the dailies will be utilized to expand on the narrative behind the beast tribes in the world. The quests will explain motivation, lifestyle, and several other factors associated with what certain groups are doing in Eorzea. And of course there will be item rewards that are not available everywhere.
