Courtney Dowe is a Baltimore, Maryland based
singer/songwriter who has spent most of her life
absorbing and fine tuning the music she loves.
Counterpoint Records is thrilled to release her
sublime debut album, 'Accomplice', which is
produced and arranged by Fertile Ground band
leader, James Collins ( a man who consistently
recognises great talent when he hears it).
This deeply personal collection of acoustic,
soul searching, songs speak of love, struggle and
social injustice as observed by this self-
described street musician. Lyrically and musically
astute, and free of the acoustic soul clichés so
often associated with the genre.
Courtneys' music incorporates elements of folk,
soul, blues and funk into her raw guitar sound.
Each track on 'Accomplice' has a story to tell,
and all are executed with poetic verve and
passion.
The core sound mostly feature Courtney's
unusual guitar phrasing, with some occasional
auxiliary instrumentation, such as the stripped
down funk of 'Might' and the summery samba-tinged
'Dancer Blue' (now available on a limited 300 run
7” single).
We are supremely confident of Courtney Dowe's
musical horizon and can't wait to bring her over
here and on the stage- her natural habitat,
Stateside.

That's a nice surprise, didn't know that lady. On a Tracy Chapman for now kinda vibe. Protest songs, folk songs and it's all good. On the ever excellent Counterpoint records.
Gilles Peterson (BBC radio 1)
Played 'Song For Sean Bell' on radio 1 and international edition.
Wow! What a voice...straight into my show tonight.
There's a little folk in there, a lot of soul...amazing.
Who is this girl??!
Dom Servini/ Wah Wah Records
A little bit folksy, and plenty darn soulful -- a great little set from singer Courtney Dowe, an artist we're hearing here for the first time
Dusty Groove (Chicago)
last week's basic soul show kicked off with "On the Rise" - beautiful tune! I hope there more from C.D. Soon
Simon Harrison (Basic Soul Radio)
Two cool and beautiful tracks. My favourite one is Dancer Blue.
Kid Loco
Wow that's one strong release - hearing those tunes I felt as I did when I first heard Fertile Ground!
Gorgeous music - deep, melancholy, strong vocals arrangements, brilliant songs!!
This will do well for you you.
I thought this before I read the press release!
JC (Here & Now Recordings)
Beautiful acoustic soul tunes for the warm days ahead.

At the risk of sounding old fashioned, they don't make them like this any more. Courtney Dowe is a self professed street performer whose dulcet tones and soulful strumming
are invigorated with passion and protest. The Baltimore-based acoustic songstress puts the kind of heart in her songs that is seldom heard these days.
Epoch Times (international)
I was truely missing Counterpoint vibes. And so we got 2 exceptional tunes here – a charismatic voice and me dreamin. The power of music is a bless.
Contender for next Radioshow.
All the best!
René Josquin (Berlin)
This is one of the strongest releases in a while for Counterpoint and will receive airplay from me
